SHERIDAN EDUCATORS UNITED FOR OUR SCHOOLS

All Sheridan Educators- Licensed & Classified-won’t back down in our fight for our contract and for our schools!

On July 31st, the Sheridan Educators Association contract with the Sheridan School District expired. Since then, the District has refused to bargain a successor agreement to in good faith and instead tried to force educators to give up their rights to speak out, pulled payroll deduction, and is retaliating against educators who have spoken out.

Our fight is the struggle for the schools our Sheridan students deserve. United across job categories, and standing side-by-side with our students and parents- We know we are…

Our Demands

Reinstate

Reinstate the contract- by signing an extension of our decades old agreement

On July 31, 2025, the District intentionally expired the  union contract for licensed workers. This contract had been in place for nearly 50 years. We demand that the district reinstate the contract by signing a contract extension and returning to the table to bargain a subsequent contract in good faith.

Recognize

Recognize ESPs as a part of the bargaining unit.

We need to ensure that our ESPs (classified workers)  have the right to be part of our union and participate in negotiations moving forward so they also have an equal voice in our workplace.

Retract

Roll back the policies and discipline imposed while educators have been working without a contract.

Since the contract expired, the board of education passed an anti-union negotiations procedure and an anti-flyering policy- both intended to target and weaken the union. Additionally, the district has gone on a campaign of retaliation- disciplining union leaders and even FIRING our coworkers. These must be retracted for us to move forward.

Sheridan educators are united in these demands.

Reinstate. Recognize. Retract.

Sheridan Educators Association Timeline

What happened in Sheridan did not happen overnight. This timeline walks through the steady breakdown in negotiations, the district’s escalating anti-union actions, the growing mobilization of educators and community members, and the retaliation that followed. From stalled bargaining and an expired contract to imposed policies, union-busting tactics, community pushback, and a 98% strike authorization vote, each section shows how Sheridan educators were pushed to this moment while continuing to stand together for the schools and working conditions students deserve.
